Kalthoff Täljyxa is useful for a variety of tipping moments, ranging from removing a lot of material to finely cutting surfaces. It works just as well for beginners as for you who have carved a lot.

The ax head's 550 grams are easy to swing. The edge is sharp out of the package and ready to use and with 32 degree flat grinding, the ax works fine for both soft and hard woods. The durable edge keeps the sharpness for a long time but is still easy to grind.

The ax was developed by Julia Kalthoff in collaboration with the experienced craftsman Beth Moen. The ax is balanced and feels light during precision work when you grip just below the head, while you can effectively cut down a lot of material and get a lot of force in the swing when you grip the bottom of the shaft.

  • The ax head: weight 550 grams, 130 mm long with grip space for fine counting
  • Eggs: 100 mm long curved edge, ground ground to 32 degrees
  • Steel: Swedish steel alloyed with carbon, molybdenum, chromium and vanadium, surface treated with anti-corrosion oil
  • Forging & heat treatment: Countersink in hammer press and hardened to 57 HRC
  • The shaft: 300 mm, Swedish ash from Skåne, surface treated with raw cold-pressed linseed oil
  • Egg protection: Vegetable tanned cow leather
